THE RESULT OF OUR WORDS

THE RESULT OF OUR WORDS

Translated from Afrikaans: "Die gevolge van ons woorde"

Someone wrote the following to me:

“Sakkie I want to know if you have any advice or an explanation for me about:  Death and life through the power of the tongue.
Please correct me-  If I say something, will it then happen?
Am I not then taking God’s spotlight, because only God spoke and then everything happened?
Please can you explain this to me?”

To begin with I want to say there are people who will believe that you, like God, can call something which does not exist into existence.

Then there are unfortunately Christians that will walk around in fear of people which may have damned / or have placed curses upon them and are afraid of people who ostensibly can bewitch them or have so called bewitched  them, but I will say more about that at the end of this writing.

For now I want to begin with the part from the Word which was sent to me with the question.

PRO 18:21  The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

There are many other parts of the Word where our Lord also warns us about how dangerous our tongue can be, how much power is in our words and how we use our words. I share with you just a few of very many which I could have used from the Word:

JAMES 3:5  Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
JAMES 3:6  The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

My tongue can through untruthfulness, which is spoken by me, be as dangerous as a deadly weapon.

PRO 25:18  Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is one who gives false testimony against a neighbour.

A person can, in other words, literally improve someone’s life by just opening your mouth and speaking:

PRO 16:24  Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

I can go on and on, but I am sure you already know how dangerous a person’s words can be, or indeed, how wonderful the result can be of someone’s words upon you.

People have, through their words, caused others to commit suicide and people have already through speaking to someone managed to prevent a suicide.
A judge can – through the pronouncement of a few words, causes a man to be jailed for the rest of his life and in some countries a judge can, through pronouncing a few words, condemn/sentence someone to death.

Someone can – if he is convincing enough through his false words, for example in a court, for always destroy someone else’s life in this world – and vice-versa.

What I have shared with you till now, is the kind of thing that PROVERBS 18:21 speak of when we read:

PRO 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

There are also those people who, to put it another way, want to assign greater power to themselves and say:
‘We can call things which do not exist as if it already exists’ and either they have not been taught correctly, or have quoted a section of the Word incorrectly.

The section of the Word which they have quoted incorrectly is the following:

ROM 4:17   As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Unfortunately there are many people who read the Word, of which the following from the Word can be applied:

MATT 13:14   In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

They read:  the Word gives them the power to call things into existence which does not exist, while we read:

ROM 4:17  As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Only God, not people, can call things that do not exist into existence as if they already exist.

I have mentioned that I am going to say something about curses/cursing/execration and yes, even magic or whatever you wish to call it for which some children of our Lord are frightened that someone has placed on them.

Are there all sorts of curses etc.?

Yes, naturally because there is a satan and his followers – but there is one perfect wonderful answer/protection against that kind of thing and it is Jesus Christ.

If you accept Jesus Christ as your Redeemer and Saviour, you are perfectly protected against every kind of curse that you may come across on your path.

Listen to what the Word says about you and me – and whatever is also on your path, in or if you want to, was upon us before we accepted Jesus as our Redeemer and Saviour.

Of us as children of God, who have been washed in His blood, the Word says:

2COR 5:17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

No curse or whatever has any hold on a child of our Lord.

You and I have Jesus’s spirit living within us.

Any curse which wants to attach to you or me, or wants to damage us, must first get passed Jesus.

GAL 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Any curse or magic has absolutely no power on or over me.
How wonderful to know that any curse/cursing/magic or whatever way you want to look at it –

1JOHN 4:4  You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

In closing:
Let you and I, children of our Lord truly remember when we open our mouths to speak:

PRO 18:21  The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Regarding this matter Jesus says also to us:

MATT 12:36  But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

MATT 12:37  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Greetings,
Sakkie
